MOME in DOMUS Top 100 again

World famous Italian design magazine, Domus has selected MOME as the only Hungarian institution among Europe’s Top 100 Schools of Architecture and Design for 2015 in its supplement of last December issue.

Domus, founded in 1928 and now an acclaimed global architecture and design magazine has published their subjective selection of the top 100 European institutions for the third time, but unlike in earlier issues editors now set up a separate list of 50 architecture and 50 design schools offering the most coherent and adequate educational structure and curriculum.

The publication examines European institutions on the basis of their references, international network taking into consideration the presence and use of modern technologies as well as student trainee opportunuties throughout college life and career options after graduation. Along with these criteria membership in international organisations like Cumulus (the International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media) with MOME as the only partner from Hungary was expected.

MOME is listed among the best 50 design schools with the Product Design programme of the university. The short description stresses the importance of individual and collaborative work in education and the strengthening of students' social responsibility by participating in projects such as the UNHCR partnership. Editors also highlight the cooperation with Mercedes-Benz Design and MOME dating back to 13 years. Besides the renowned designers Ernő Rubik and Stefan Lengyel the publication mentions alumni with an international career like Csaba Wittinger at Renault, Irma Földényi doing research in the Netherlands or Levente Szabó at Electrolux and the freshly graduated talents Péter Toronyi and Alberto Vasquez.

It is not the first time for MOME to appear on the Domus list: in 2013 editors already selected the university among Europe’s Top 100 Schools of Architecture and Design.
